Welcome to the 2017-2018 Rainier Expedition Y Guides Program.  For questions about registration, please contact Brianna Hickey, our program registrar, at bhickey@seattleymca.org.  She is also available at the University Y from 12-5 via phone daily.  We are looking forward to another great year of dads and kids in the outdoors.




Ferry Reservations


For those planning to drive onto the ferry we highly recommend you make ferry reservations.  Under the reservations system 30% of the spots will be released exactly 2 weeks in advance and 30% will be released two days in advance.  Reservations can be made beginning at 7am.

What to Bring


Sleeping Bag                                       Pillow

Rain Gear                                            Sturdy Shoes (closed toed)

Warm Jacket                                       Flashlight/Batteries

Hat                                                      Camera

Extra socks                                          Long Pants

Toiletries (including a towel)              T-shirts

Shorts                                                  Water Sandals

Band-Aids                                          Travel cup for coffee or tea

Swim Suit                                           Towel for swimming

Water Bottle

Matches/lighter & fire starter (Paper, etc) for fire on the beach


Camp Orientation

Following Breakfast on Saturday morning Camp Orkila staff will hold an orientation of activities, rules and policies at the campfire pit at 9:00am.   Please inform all your members that this is taking place and please attend.  Many pieces of important information are communicated at this time (including the first snazzler clue).


Cellular Service

If you are at the beach at camp it is likely that your cell phone is picking up Rogers Tower in Canada - therefore making your call international. If you would like to avoid this please walk up towards the parking lot and your phone will pick up a tower from the U.S.  If you do get international charge you can call your provider and have the charges taken off.
