WHAT IS Y GUIDES?
The Y Guides program is a parent-child program designed to help families foster a lifetime of understanding and active engagement. Activities support one-on-one interactions between a father and his child (grades K-3). Parent-child pairs participate in these activities each month with other pairs in a circle. In addition, the Expedition hosts events throughout the year such as camp outs, the Pinewood Derby Races and more!
HOW TO GET STARTED
1. Form a circle! Many circles are formed based on connections in your child's school or neighborhood. Typically children in a circle are all in the same grade or around the same age to insure they can participate in all activities together. Your level of activity will be completely up to your circle.
2. Select a circle leader! Your circle leader will be the primary person sending information to all members of the circle about upcoming events.
3. Name your circle! Get together, be creative and take a vote! We use these names to insure all the members of your circle are grouped together during events and assigned to the same cabin during camp outs.
UNDERSTANDING THE FEES
Upon registering for your first Y Guides event of the season (seasons run from September-June), you will register for Y Guides by paying a participation fee. These fees pay for event patches, the free pinewood derby event, ect.
If you are a gym member, participation of a season of Y Guides is $30 per person.
If you are a non-member, participation for a season of Y Guides if $65 per person for parent and first child, and $45 for any additional children.
Other fees throughout the year include:
Camp Orkila: $130 per person
Sweetheart Dance: $55 per person
Zoo Overnight:
Firs Camp out: $120 per person
The YMCA is dedicated to
providing all families in our community the opportunity to participate in Y
programs. Depending on your annual income and family size, the Y awards
scholarships on a sliding scale up to 80%. This applies to all Y Guides
